Hene Aku Kwapong (PhD) holds a BS, MS in Chemical Engineering and an MBA in
Finance Engineering (all from MIT, Cambridge, MA) and a PhD in Systems Dynamics
(Columbia University, New York). He is currently a Managing Partner of Songhai, a corporate development company and Chief Restructuring Officer of Park Street Advisors, a London real-estate private equity company. Dr. Kwapong is a director of both Nordicom-Denmark and Ecobank, Ghana Ltd. He is a former Senior Vice President of the New York City Economic Development Corporation and has more than 25 years of strategy and operational experience from several Fortune 50 companies including Microsoft, GE, Exxon Mobil, Deutsche Bank and Royal Bank of Scotland. He has a wealth of experience from the
financial services industry including multi- asset securitisation platform management, value-
based management leadership, and architecting control frameworks for fixed income
businesses. Dr. Kwapong served as COO with Royal Bank of Scotland’s Global Credit
Business, where he led the restructuring of its global credit and ABS business. Until recently,
he served as the head of strategy and new markets overseeing global credit electronic trading business, overseeing operational execution of strategy; including regulatory imperatives, risk
management, implementing supervisory framework, and overall profitability of the Europe,
Middle East & Africa Credit & Mortgage Markets.

Sorens has been handling extensive budgets during most of his 27-year career as an insurance and financial services specialist. He stepped into Life Assurance Operations in the 1990s and quickly demonstrated exceptional capabilities – he was appointed as Underwriter five years later. In 2000, his talent was acknowledged by British American Insurance Company in Mauritius; he rapidly climbed the ladder as Project Manager – New Life Operations System, Operations Manager, Vice President – Technical Services, Senior Vice President – Business and Channel Development, Deputy CEO/Principal Officer in Botswana. He is currently working as Chief Technical Officer at National Insurance Company in Mauritius. As freelance consultant, Sorens was also called to review the distribution channels for an insurance company in Lagos Nigeria.

Having successfully led teams of more than 750 people, Sorens was selected as finalist for Sales Director of the Year in the British Excellence Sales and Marketing Award (BESMA) in 2010 after demonstrating his exceptional achievement in Sales.

Sorens holds an Executive MBA and is a qualified member of the Chartered Insurance Institute UK. He holds a fellow member of the Institute of Sales & Marketing Management and Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance & Finance – Certified Insurance Professional.

In 2017, Sorens followed training in US and became a Certified Canfield Trainer on The Success Principles; he has already introduced the principles to more than 400+ persons in his Achievers Trail Workshops to develop and guide the upcoming leaders to live their dreams.

Fiifi Simpson is an insurance professional with over 30 years experience in Ghana. He is the Chief Executive Officer of GN Life Assurance Company Limited. He was the Managing Director of Vanguard Life Company Limited after serving as Deputy General Manager, Group Operations with Enterprise Life Assurance Company Limited. Fiifi was one of the four key persons who started the Enterprise Life company at its inception in Ghana.

He held various portfolios in Enterprise Life, ranging from Business Development Manager, Head of Corporate Risk, Sales and Marketing and Group Operations. He was also a Senior Life Underwriter at Ghana Reinsurance Company where he started his insurance career. Over the course of his career he has been responsible for the achievement of key milestones in the life insurance industry in Ghana. Among his key accomplishments are: the establishment of the Life Sales Model in Enterprise Life; the establishment of Corporate Business Department as well as the establishment of Bancassurance Model in Enterprise Life,- the very first in the insurance industry in August 2007 with Standard Chartered Bank; the introduction of Broker Model for Individual Life and the Church Funeral Scheme.
Fiifi was the Country Project Manager on Bancassurance for Sanlam and was awarded as Champion for being the individual to have contributed the most to group Bancassurance at the first Sanlam/Stanchart annual bancassurance conference in Johannesburg, South Africa.
As a critical contributor to the growth of the insurance industry, Fiifi is a founding Member of Life Offices Association of Ghana and was secretary of LOA for 7 Years. He has also been lecturing on short courses at the Ghana Insurance College. Fiifi holds a Bachelors of Science Insurance Option from the University of Ghana Business School; a Diploma in Insurance and Risk Management from the West Africa Insurance Institute and has participated in advance technical training at Swiss Re and other institutions like Hollandia Re and Hannover Re. He is also an old student of Adisadel College- Cape coast.

He has done attachments with several organizations in Africa such as Sanlam, Africa Life Assurance Company. Fiifi also contributes to the global insurance industry by attending several international conferences.
He is the Board Chairman of Worawora Rice Mills.

James is an industry expert with over 17 years of successful experience in the insurance sector.
In his current role as the Head of Insurance for KPMG East Africa, James is responsible for strategy, research, innovation, quality assurance, market and brand position, business development, capacity building and engagement delivery.
James works with close to 80 clients across the region in all areas of consultancy at all levels of the value chain and he is also a member of the KPMG global insurance team, KPMG global insure-tech team, KPMG global IFRS17 team. Locally he is part of the FS and Financial inclusion strategy teams.
Prior to joining KPMG, he has worked for 4 leading UK insurers, a global brokerage and a leading insurance law firm in senior operational roles; and a consultant.
James has acquired vast knowledge and expertise in UK/Europe, East Africa, West Africa, UAE and emerging/ high growth markets in the sector.

Mr. Eli Hini is the General Manager for Mobile Financial Services (MFS) for MTN Ghana.

Prior to Eli’s appointment, he was the Mobile Money Commercial Senior Manager, a role he has held since August 2008 within the Mobile Money, Sales & Distribution and Enterprise Business Unit.

He has been instrumental in setting up Mobile Money in Ghana and growing the subscriber base, transaction volumes and value. He also led the MTN Ghana team to receive ISO certification (ISO/IEC 12007: 2013 certification) in 2016. With his new appointment, Eli Hini is expected to drive strategy, business development, innovation and relevant operations of MTN’s Mobile Money business.

Eli Hini is a Chartered Marketer with over 17 years’ experience serving in various leadership positions in MTN Ghana, Unilever Ghana Limited and Coca-Cola Bottling Company Limited. Prior to his appointment as General Manager for MFS, he was the Commercial Senior Manager for MTN Mobile Money, a role he held from August 2008. Kwame Adom-Frimpong serves as Managing Director of Mainstream Reinsurance Company Limited. Dr. Adom-Frimpong joined Mainstream Reinsurance Company Limited in September, 1999 as Director of Finance and Administration. He has several years of experience as a practising accountant, insurer and financial management specialist. He had varied and extensive working experience in Public accountancy as well as in Commerce and Industry. He started as an accountant with Ghana Food Distribution Corporation (GFDC) and worked with ABC Brewery Company Limited as Senior Cost and Management Accountant. He joined Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), a firm of Chartered Accountants and Management Consultants and worked for five years as Senior Audit Supervisor. From Coopers, Dr. Adom-Frimpong joined Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) as Accounts Manager and rose humbly and gracefully through the ranks to become Head of Internal Audit (Chief Internal Auditor). He was attached to and trained in Insurance with Hannover Reinsurance Company Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2000. He is a part-time lecturer at University of Ghana Business School, Legon and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, (Gimpa.) in Financial Management and Decision Making Accounting. He is a distinguished member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana. He is a member of Chartered Institute of Bankers and also a member of Institute of Data Processing and Management, U.K. He holds two doctorate degrees, a Doctorate in Business Administration (Financial Management option – Banking and Finance) in November, 2001 and PhD in Economics in November 2004, all from University for Professional Studies, Acadia, United States of America.
